Celebrating Pride in Downtown Chatham

A celebration of love, acceptance, and inclusion will make its way through downtown Chatham this weekend.

The annual Pride Parade begins at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, making its way from the Civic Centre down King Street West to 4th Street, across Wellington, and down to Bill’s Place at the corner of Centre Street and Harvey.

PrideFest then runs from 12pm until 3pm on the green space beside Bill’s Place with food, vendors, games, and entertainment, including the second annual LipsynCK Slaytacular drag competition.

Many communities celebrate during Pride Month in June, which honours the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City. However, CK Pride commemorates the first Canadian gay rights protest, which was held on Parliament Hill in August, 1971.
