Census of English Catholic Students Now Underway

The local English Catholic school board wants to get a better snapshot of its own students.

The St Clair Catholic board is conducting a voluntary student census, running through May 27th.

Officials say information gathered through the “Stronger Together Student Census” will help in the identification and elimination of barriers to student success, and help in the development of effective programs, supports and resources to better meet the needs of students, in the promotion of their wellbeing, achievement and success.

“Diversity, equity and inclusion are all part of an ongoing conversation,” says Lisa Demers, Superintendent of Education.  “From the information provided through our census, we will better understand the barriers students face in our schools and communities.  Stronger Together is a safe place to empower students to find their voice and actively pursue change.”

To protect the privacy and confidentiality of students and their families, any reports on findings from the Stronger Together Student Census will only contain data about groups of students, and not individual students.  Individual student data, or information from the Stronger Together Student Census, will not be released.

Secondary students will be given class time to complete the questionnaire.  Elementary students will complete the survey at home, with the assistance of parents/guardians.

More informing on the census can be found on the St Clair Catholic District School Board website. https://strongertogether.st-clair.net/

A similar census was conducted by the Lambton Kent District School Board earlier this year.
