A locally owned restaurant in Chatham is getting some national recognition.
Centro Wood Fired Kitchen has earned a spot on OpenTable’s list of Top 100 Restaurants, based on diner reviews and demand through the online restaurant-reservation service.
Centro co-owner Dominique Bonnot said she and her three fellow owners are thrilled and deeply honoured to have made the list.
“We’re absolutely over the moon for this recognition,” she said.
OpenTable, which provides online reservations for over 50,000 restaurants worldwide, analyzed more than one million reviews and dining metrics from verified users between September 2024 and August 2025 to determine this year’s list.
Bonnot credited Centro’s success to the environment the restaurant has created for its diners. She said it provides “the whole package.”
“We’ve created a really cool vibe for Chatham — something that people go outside of the city looking for, not realizing that it’s here. It’s a really great atmosphere,” she said. “Restaurants are not easy for anyone. The people who are restaurant owners are people who have passion about entertaining people, experiences, about food, cocktails, that sort of thing.”
While proud of the recognition, Bonnot said she hopes it can also have a positive impact on the community.
“Hopefully, this brings a little recognition to the community that we live in,” said Bonnot. “We have a lot of good restaurants in town that deserve the same kind of recognition.”
Located at 71 St Clair St., Centro Wood Fired Kitchen first opened in its century-old building in October 2019, offering an open kitchen, wood-fired dishes, and crafted cocktails.
