Changes Coming to CK’s Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Charging your electric vehicle at one of Chatham-Kent’s electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) could cost you $2 an hour.

In the 2023 budget, the cost of installing and maintaining the stations was to be offset with a future user fee, to ensure no tax dollars were allocated to the project. The user fee would come into effect during the 2025 budget, allowing residents with electric vehicles two years of free charging.

At the December 9th council meeting, the $2 per hour user fee was omitted from the User Fee By-law vote. Council members will now vote on the EVCS user fees being added to Chatham-Kent’s 2025 User Fee By-law at Monday’s upcoming council meeting.
