Charges Laid After Knife-Wielding Woman Headbutts Neighbour

A 38-year-old woman is facing several charges after a neighbourly dispute turned violent in Ridgetown.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a woman approached a group of people on George Street and began threatening them while holding a knife.

The woman then picked up pieces of asphalt and threw them at two vehicles and the door of a residence resulting in damage.

One of the people in the group tried to intervene but was headbutted by the woman, causing an injury.

A 38-year-old Ridgetown woman was located by police shortly after and was arrested. However, while being escorted to a cell at police headquarters, the woman allegedly spat on officers and kick at them.

She is now charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault, three counts of mischief, and assaulting a peace officer. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
