Charges Laid After Licence Plate Scanner Alerts Police

A pair of Windsor men are facing charges after being stopped by police on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

The Ontario Provincial Police Service said officers were alerted by their Automated Licence Plate Recognition system about a passing vehicle in the eastbound lanes of the highway, shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police stopped the vehicle and learned that the driver and passenger were both violating the conditions of previous release orders.

As a result, a 19-year-old man is now charged with failing to comply with an undertaking and breach of recognizance. A 29-year-old man is also charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Both were held in custody for a bail hearing.
