Charges Laid After Woman Pushed To The Ground, Choked

A Blenheim man will have to answer to a judge in court after an argument between a man and a woman turned violent.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a Park Avenue East addressing Chatham on Monday at around 7:40 p.m. in response to a domestic dispute.

It was learned that earlier in the day a man and woman had been arguing when things escalated. The accused allegedly refused to allow the woman to leave, blocked the door, pushed her to the floor, and choked her before she was able to get away and call police.

The 26-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and is now charged with assault, forcible confinement, and assault causing bodily harm. He was taken to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a December court date.
