A 38-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after an altercation turned violent in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Tuesday shortly before midnight, officers responded to a downtown Chatham address after one person was assaulted with an undisclosed weapon.
Police arrived and located a man a short distance away, but he refused to cooperate with officers and took off running. Following a short chase, the man was taken into custody.
A man from Chatham is now charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft, theft of mail, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
