Charges Laid Following Chatham Robbery

A pair of men are facing charges after a robbery in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent Police say a St Thomas man was on Richmond Street last night when he was threatened by one man wielding a hammer and a pipe retrofitted with a firing pin. The accused stole the man’s backpack and took off on a bike with another man.

The two suspects were found on Queen Street a short time later.

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault with a weapon, several weapons offences, robbery, and failing to comply with his release conditions.

An 18-year-old from Chatham has also been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
