A Chatham man is facing charges in connection to a collision between an electric scooter and minivan earlier this summer.
According to Chatham-Kent Police, emergency crews were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Richmond Street and Inches Avenue shortly after 10 o’clock the night of June 27 and say a man riding the scooter was going northbound on Inches when he failed to stop and collided with a minivan heading eastbound.
The 27-year-old scooter driver was taken to hospital in Chatham with serious injuries before being transferred to Windsor for further treatment.
Police say the accused was finally taken into custody this past Thursday when he was found by officers on Blythewood Crescent.
He has now been charged with four counts of operation while prohibited, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, driving while suspended, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
The man was released from custody with conditions and a court date in November.
