Charges Laid Following Two Wallaceburg Break-Ins

Charges have been laid following a pair of residential break-ins in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a Minnie Street home on Sunday at around 8:15 a.m. after someone broke into an attached shed. While officers were examining the area, they were approached by a second victim who reported that their Duke Street residence had also been broken into.

Property was stolen during both break-ins.

Using surveillance footage, authorities were able to identify a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The 46-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested on George Street shortly after 1 a.m. He is now charged with two counts of break-and-enter to commit theft, possession of stolen property under $5,000, trespassing at night, and disguise with intent.

The accused was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
