Charges Laid in Connection to Chatham Robbery

Two men have been arrested following a violent confrontation in Chatham.

Police were called to a Wellington Street West residence shortly after 6:30 Sunday morning.

According to investigators, the two victims returned to an apartment after a night out. Shortly after, two men, with whom the victims had spent the evening, forced their way into the home carrying firearms and demanded money and other valuables. The victims complied and the men left.

The suspects were later found on O’Neil Street and arrested.

Aged 21 and 23, the pair have been charged with break and enter with the intent to commit robbery, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Following a bail hearing, both men were remanded into custody and transported to the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.
