Charges have now been laid in connection to a crash that shut down a section of Highway 40 north of Chatham.

According to Elgin OPP, emergency crews responded to Highway 40 near Brook Line shortly after 1:30 Monday afternoon for a single-vehicle rollover.

The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution and the road closed for roughly four hours between Claymore Line and St Andrews Line to remove the vehicle from a deep ditch.

A 25-year-old Whitby resident has now been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
