Charities and Non-Profits Reminded To Apply For Funding

The Canadian Red Cross, Chatham Kent Community Foundation and United Way of Chatham-Kent are reminding local charities and non-profit organizations to apply for COVID-19 funding.
The joint effort has launched calls for applications for the new Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF). The Fund is a new $350 million investment by the Government of Canada to support charities and non-profit organizations serving vulnerable populations who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.
“When we collectively work together, we can ensure that there are services out there to help people in this community and to prevent duplication or fracturing of existing supports,” said Steve Pratt from the United Way of Chatham-Kent. “By working together, we can ensure that forgotten areas in our community are not left behind and we are better prepared for the community’s rapidly emerging needs.”
The funding, which was initially announced on April 21, 2020 by the Government of Canada, is a much-needed boost for community-based organizations who have seen demands for their services increase dramatically since the start of the pandemic.
The collective applauds the federal government’s move to support Chatham-Kent’s most vulnerable populations and looks forward to collaboration. The new Fund will provide a much-needed boost to organizations on the frontlines, while we also continue our efforts to secure the funding and support required for the stabilization and recovery phases ahead.
Applications for the Emergency Community Support Fund in Chatham-Kent were made available Tuesday, May 19 on ckgives.ca, communityfoundations.ca and redcross.ca/communityorganizations. Organizations looking for more information on the various funding streams and eligibility requirements are asked to visit ckgives.ca/ecsf and encouraged to apply before the July 23, 2020 at 12 p.m. deadline.
