A reminder for kids to pay attention to their surroundings. police-lights-500x500

Chatham-Kent Police say a young boy struck by a car while running across the road earlier this week is now back at home, recovering from his injuries.

The eight-year was playing on Thames Street in Chatham late Tuesday afternoon when he darted into traffic and was struck.

The driver was unable to stop in time, and the force of the crash sent the boy into the air, landing face down on the pavement.

The child was sent to hospital in London, but has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities are urging parents to talk to their kids about obeying the rules of the road, and always looking both ways before crossing the street.
