A Chatham-Kent glass manufacturer is expanding with support from the municipality in the form of a tax break.

Council unanimously approved a Community Improvement Plan grant for Kent-Erie Glass & Lock Inc.

The company which provides residential, industrial and commercial glass services, will build an estimated $2.4 million manufacturing plant at 800 Junction Avenue in Chatham.

According to the motion, “the project is eligible under the CIP for a grant equal to 100% of the new municipal property taxes levied related to the development for 5 years.”

Council approved the grant to support development, which is expected to increase industrial capacity in the community.
