Chatham Intersections Top List Of Most Dangerous

Police in Chatham-Kent have released a list of the municipality’s most collision-prone intersections for 2022.

According to statistics provided by the Chatham-Kent Police Service, the intersection of Keil Drive and Richmond Street topped the list once again with the highest number of crashes at 14. The intersection was also tied for the number-one spot in 2021 with 14 crashes that year as well.

The intersections of Lacroix Street and Park Avenue West, and Grand Avenue West and Keil Drive North were tied for the second most crashes last year at 11 each.

Members of the Traffic Management unit investigated a total of 11 fatal collisions on municipal roads in 2022, up one from the year before. However, the number of collisions that resulted in life-threatening injuries declined from eight in 2021 to seven in 2022.

Police officials said tracking collision data allows them to better focus traffic enforcement and education.
