Chatham-Kent Remembers

Communities across Chatham-Kent will be honouring veterans and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Several parades and memorial services will be hosted by the branches of the Royal Canadian Legion on Monday as local residents pay tribute during Remembrance Day.

The following is a list of every memorial planned in the municipality:

A parade will take place in Blenheim beginning at 10:45 a.m. in front of the Legion Branch 185. The precession will end at St. Mary’s Hall for a service, followed by a wreath laying at the Legion.

In Bothwell, a parade will begin at Legion Branch252 at 10:45 a.m., followed by a service at the Main Street cenotaph at 11 a.m.

Legion Branch 642 in Chatham will welcome parade participants at 10:30 a.m., who will return for a service at 12:30 p.m.

A remembrance march will be held in Dresden, which will begin at the firehall at 10:30 a.m. Hosted by Legion Branch 113, the procession will move to the Cenotaph for a service at 11 a.m.

Legion Branch 185 in Erieau is holding a service at 2 p.m. in front of Molly and OJ’s Restaurant.

The Highgate and Orford Branch 335 will host a remembrance service at the Legion at 10:45 a.m.

In Merlin, a parade will begin at Legion Branch 465 at 10:15 a.m. and continue to the Merlin Community Hall for a service at 10:50 a.m.

Ridgetown’s Remembrance Day service will take place at the Cenotaph at 11 a.m.

For Thamesville, a parade will take place on the local sidewalks starting at Legion Branch 367 at 10:30 a.m. A service will follow.

A parade will leave from Legion Branch 206 in Tilbury at 10:30 a.m. for a service at the Cenotaph at 10:50 a.m.

There will be a gathering at Wallaceburg District Secondary School at 9:15 a.m. for a presentation followed by a march to the Cenotaph for a service beginning at 10:45 a.m.

And in Wheatley, a short parade will form at Mercer’s Service Centre at 10:15 a.m., with a ceremony to follow at the cenotaph at 10:45 a.m.
