Chatham man charged with assault and making threats

An arrest has been made in connection to a disturbance at a Chatham business just over a week ago.

On August 11th, Chatham-Kent Police were called to an Emma Street business and say a man had been banging on the door, claiming he had an appointment. The suspect allegedly broke the “open” button on the door and when approached by security, tried to hit them and threatening to harm them before fleeing the scene.

Just after 5 o’clock Monday morning, the suspect was found and arrested on St Clair Street.

The 31-year-old is charged with mischief, assault, and threatening to cause death.

He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
