An arrest has been made in connection with an incident of intimate partner violence earlier this month.

On August 17, Chatham-Kent Police were contacted about an incident between a 39-year-old Chatham-Kent man and 40-year-old woman, although specifics have not been released.

Later that week, the accused was arrested and released with conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the victim or attending places she is known to frequent.

However, police say in the days following his release, the man allegedly approached the victim at a bus stop and threatened to damage her property, went to her home, and also tried to contact her through various social media platforms.

The man is now facing charges of uttering threats to burn, destroy, or damage property; two counts of criminal harassment; and three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

He was taken back into custody on August 27 and was held for a bail hearing.
