An alleged thief and vandal has been arrested in Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to a business on St. Clair Street after a man attempted to steal a bicycle. The man fled the scene without the bike after being confronted by the owner.
A short time later, police located the man spray-painting a wall behind a business and he was arrested.
A 29-year-old Chatham man is now charged with theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000. He was later released from custody with a future court date.
