Community safety education is the focus of an upcoming event in Chatham-Kent.
Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers is hosting the Children’s Safety Expo on September 12 at the St. Clair College Thames Campus. The community event is designed to help children and parents learn about community safety through a variety of fun hands-on activities, educational displays, and emergency services demonstrations.
One of the featured attractions is the Kids Fingerprinting Clinic, which provides families with a free digital child identification record that can be safely stored and used should a child ever go missing.
A Car Seat Clinic is also being offered to the first 12 families that register online at www.ckcrimestoppers.ca. Certified professionals will provide free inspections and installation tips to help ensure children’s car seats are installed correctly.
A wide variety of emergency response vehicles and equipment will also be at the event, along with police, fire, EMS and municipal representatives who will be available to answer questions and speak with families.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is free to attend. To learn more about the Children’s Safety Expo, click here.
