A final fundraising campaign has been launched the fund a brand new, state-of-the-art facility of the Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent.

The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent will be holding the two-week “Build for the Kids” Capital Campaign from October 7-20 to raise the final $500,000 needed for the new 58,000‐square‐foot building on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham.

The campaign will consist of a series of 11 events throughout Chatham-Kent, including a British High Tea at Tim Hortons, a White Glove Dinner at McDonald’s, and a Halloween Bash at Red Barn Brewing Co. among others.

“This community continuously gives and they just need an opportunity to do that,” said foundation President and CEO Mike Genge. “This last half a million dollars is where the community can stand up and go, this is important to us.”

The remaining funds brought in during the campaign will help to fulfill the treatment centre’s commitment to raise the $10 million needed for furnishings, equipment, and sustainability. The Ontario government has already committed a $59 million towards construction of the new facility, which is already underway.

The new building is expected to provide additional space to reduce wait times for rehabilitation services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and autism services that are provided to thousands of children in the community.

“One in five kids in this community goes to the treatment centre, so it touches almost every family in some way,” said Genge.

In addition to the events, campaign t-shits will also be made available to the community for $25. Students and businesses can also get involved by purchasing paper butterflies that can be personalized and displayed.
