A new monthly giving program is now accepting donors who will directly support children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication challenges in Chatham-Kent.
The Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTC Foundation) recently launched the Butterfly League, which encourages donors to sign up to make monthly contributions.
A minimum donation of $25 each month will help fund programs at the Children’s Treatment Centre that are not covered by government funding, such as music therapy, recreation therapy, and social work. One is five children and families in Chatham-Kent rely on these services each month.
Foundation President and CEO Mike Genge said the consistency of the monthly donor program will allow the CTC Foundation to plan and grow programs with confidence.
“It’s about looking after our kids and making things consistent,” he said. “Having a monthly donor program gives us the ability to be able to forecast in the future, to be able to look after services.”
Organizers are aiming to get 100 people signed up for the program in the first year, with the hope of further growth in the future.
Foundation board member Catie Hawryluk said the Butterfly League is a good way to support the treatment centre for those who may not go to larger events and fundraisers in the community.
“This is an opportunity that can reach a lot of different people within the community that don’t necessarily want to be out at [fundraising] events,” said Hawryluk. “It’s a very nice, quiet way of supporting,”
