Christmas Wish Tree Lit in Wallaceburg

A festive glow lit in the night air at the Wallaceburg site of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for the first of two lighting ceremonies for the annual Christmas Wish Tree campaign.

CKHA Foundation President Mary Lou Crowley says the lights on the tree recognize the memory of loved ones and support local health care.

“Our community is so generous and today it symbolizes us right here in Wallaceburg, the tremendous success,”  Crowley says. “It’s just a wonderful feeling and wonderful to support our health care workers.”

All money raised during the campaign will help to pay for a new patient ventilator for CKHA’s Chatham site and five new vital sign monitors for CKHA’s Wallaceburg site.

Foundation Board Chair Bob Hockney says it was a very special evening.

“You can purchase a light on the tree and it will shine bright through the Christmas season in remembrance of those people that we’ve lost,” Hockney says. “Our goal this year is $100,000 and already we’ve exceeded $80,000 and still have lots of time for donations.”

The Christmas Wish Tree campaign runs through the end of January with donations being accepted through the CKHA Foundation website.

The second lighting ceremony takes place at the Chatham site of the Health Alliance, starting at 6 o’clock tonight.
