Chatham-Kent’s newly created administrative position has now been filled.

The municipality announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Dave Taylor to be Chatham-Kent’s first deputy administrative officer following a rigorous recruitment process.

Taylor has worked for Chatham-Kent since 2012 and is currently the municipality’s director of legal services. He will assume the deputy CAO position in the coming months to allow for a transition of his current portfolio duties.

As the deputy CAO, Taylor will oversee several divisions in the municipality and will be tasked with advancing Chatham-Kent’s advocacy efforts for provincial and federal funding.

The position of deputy CAO caused significant debate among local members of CK Council after the job was posted online, boasting a salary of between $196,476 and $240,957. However, the position is expected to be funded through attrition following the retirement of Chatham-Kent’s general manager of Corporate Services, Cathy Hoffman.
