CK Chamber Concerned About Labour Changes

The Ontario government is toying with the idea of raising minimum wage to $15 an hour, and the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has some concerns. business

Chamber President, Gail Hundt, says an increase like this is huge for smaller businesses.

“That is a large increase to business to take all at one step,” Hundt says. “No one’s discounting that employees should be paid fairly, but when you put a wage increase in quickly, the employer has to absorb that from somewhere.”

She says the Liberals are also looking at increasing vacation time and sick days, but they want to make sure all these changes are fair for both the employer and the employees.
