Chatham-Kent is gaining popularity across the country. The municipality ranked 27th on the annual Maclean’s Magazine list of best places to live in Canada.
That’s 99 positions higher than the last survey in 2019, when Chatham-Kent placed 126th.
Mayor Darrin Canniff isn’t surprised.
“We have a very high quality of life,” Canniff says. “It really makes a major statement about our community and what we’re doing here. I know during COVID, there’s a lot of negatives going around, but this is a piece of positive news, given that the country is recognizing Chatham-Kent as one of the top places to live.”
Last year, CK placed 126th on the Maclean’s list, which takes things like crime, weather, health, population growth, internet access, and affordability into consideration.
Halifax, Nova Scotia topped the list, with Fredericton, NB; St Thomas, Ontario; Belleville, Ontario; and Edmonton, Alberta rounding out the top five.
