CK Council Could Be Hitting The Road Again

One of Chatham-Kent mayor Darrin Canniff’s priorities when he was first elected mayor in 2018 was to take council meetings on the road to outlying communities.

In his first term, Canniff got his wish and held a council meeting in Tilbury. However, due to the pandemic, hosting meetings in-person—whether in Chatham or another location was not feasible.

Canniff wants to revisit the idea of hosting council meetings in various Chatham-Kent communities.

The mayor is bringing in a motion at tonight’s council meeting to request that a report to council be prepared by administration outlining the logistics of holding two council meetings per year (spring and fall) in each ward over the remaining council term.

Canniff wants to take council on the road by the spring of 2024
