Municipal councillors are gearing up for the annual budget process, although things will look a little different this time around.
Chatham-Kent has shifted to a multi-year budget, covering 2024-2027.
The draft budget will be presented to council next Wednesday evening at the Civic Centre.
A pair of community consultations will be held on November 22 and 23, including a live question and answer period. The two events, 12pm-1pm on Wednesday November 22, and 7-8pm on Thursday November 23, will be held virtually on the Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed (www.facebook.com/MunicCK.)
Council will begin deliberations on the fiscal blueprint on November 28. Three sessions are scheduled, with more time set aside for December 5 and 6, if needed.
Any groups or organizations wishing to make funding requests must do so the night the draft budget is presented, with written submissions emailed to the municipality by noon on November 13 (ckfps@chatham-kent.ca.)
Deputations can be made either on opening night or the first night of deliberations.
All budget meetings will be held in person in the Council Chambers at the Civic Centre as well as live-streamed on YourTV CK’s YouTube Channel.
