Chatham-Kent council will hold their first council meeting in almost a month tonight.
There are a number of service centres across the municipality. The offices serve the purpose to pay municipal bills for residents and conduct other municipal business. However, as more people now pay for things online, there might not be as much as a need for the municipal service centres.
Council will consider a motion at their meeting tonight to have administration conduct a service review on service centres, municipal information desks and customer service delivery. Administration would then report back to council in the fall of this year so council can make a decision if there is a possible cost savings eliminating some or all of the municipal service centres or possibly reducing or combining services into other municipal operations.
Currently, Chatham-Kent has six municipal offices, three municipal information desks and a municipal call centre.
