Chatham-Kent’s COVID vaccination effort has hit a new milestone.
80% of those eligible in the municipality are now fully vaccinated, and 85% have received at least their first dose.
As has been the case for the last few months, younger residents lag behind older age groups, only 66% of those 12-17 have been fully vaccinated, and just 63% of those 18-29 have been given both shots.
Of the COVID cases reported since July 1st, 73% have been in unvaccinated individuals; just under 13% have either been partially vaccinated, not yet fully protected, or with an undetermined vaccination status; and roughly 15% have been fully vaccinated.
Meantime there’s been another dip in the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the community, down to 58 today with 8 new infections and six cases resolved.
