CK Hoping for Federal Infrastructure Funding

Rose Beach Line near Antrim Road.

The federal government is making $2-billion dollars available over the next 10 years, and Chatham-Kent is trying to get some of that cash.

The new Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund is a program that will see the federal government kick in 40% funding for large scale natural infrastructure projects like flood mitigation and erosion repairs.

The municipality applied to get about 16.6 million in funding against a project list of about 42 million.

A final decision from the government of Canada is expected in April or May.

The municipal component will be approximately $2.5 million a year over 10 years.
