According to figures from the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, 172 properties changed hands last month, up 5.5% over the same time last year, making it the largest sales figure ever recorded in the municipality.

However, the number of new listings continues to decline, down 16.9% from May 2016, well below historical averages for this time of year.

The average price for a home in Chatham-Kent topped $200,000 for the first time last month, sitting at $208,435, up 20.6% from the year previous.
