Pet and Wildlife Rescue, which performs animal control for the municipality, recently completed a two-month blitz of licensed operations in south and north Kent, Wallaceburg, and Chatham.

Anyone who wants to breed, board, or own more than three dogs is required to apply for a kennel license.

Inspectors were looking at a number of criteria, including proper bedding, food, and water, as well as overall site cleanliness.

Officials say of the 26 facilities they searched, one was found with minor violations, and one remains under investigation.
