
Police in York Region have arrested a Chatham-Kent resident in connection with the historical sexual assault of a minor.
York Regional Police said officers with the Special Victims Unit began an investigation in June after a victim came forward to report that they had been sexually assaulted on three occasions, between 1997 and 1999. At the time of the assaults, the victim was under the age of 16.
On June 25, 73-year-old Michael Geniole of Chatham-Kent was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference.
Police have released a photo of Geniole as they believe there may be additional victims. Anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault is encouraged to come forward and report the incident to police.
