A total of 100 Chatham-Kent residents have now lost their lives to COVID-19.
In its weekly COVID update, Chatham-Kent Public Health reported that the local death toll related to the virus had reached the grim milestone.
The health unit also reported 45 new cases of the virus that were detected between February 5-11, bringing the seven-day average to six new high-risk cases per day.
The positivity rate in Chatham-Kent has fallen to 12.2 per cent, compared to 19 per cent the week prior. The provincial rate sits at 12.9 per cent.
Health officials emphasize that the reported numbers are an underestimate of the true caseload across the municipality due to limitations on PCR testing.
No new COVID outbreaks were reported in the past week. However, outbreaks remain in effect at Riverview Gardens nursing home with a total of 13 cases since February 1, and at Oaks Retirement Village with a total of 12 cases since February 2.
