It’s only a matter of days before the Chatham-Kent electorate knows who it has chosen to be its mayor for the next four years.
Election day is Monday, October 22.
Darrin Canniff will not be letting his foot off the gas.
“You got to be out there,” said Canniff prior to an all-candidates meeting in Chatham on Thursday. “It’ll be 16 hour days like it’s been for the last few months and it’ll be 16 hours day for the next three days.”
Incumbent Randy Hope says he’ll be busy running the affairs of the municipality today, but will take to the hustings after that.
“Over the weekend, I’ll have strategic placement where I’ll be making sure I’m still in the public eye and then we’ll wait to see what happens Monday.”
Alysson Storey is excited about her campaign and won’t be changing course in the final days:
“We’re gonna stay on track,” she said. “We’re going to keep our social media game strong, knocking on doors, meeting people across CK. We’re not going to change our strategy. It’s been working for us so well over the last six months, we’re just going to take it right through to the end”
Harold Atkinson says even if he’s not elected, he’ll continue to be a strong voice for rural communities in Chatham-Kent.
Allan Traylor says his campaign is gaining momentum and Robert Salvatore Powers says allowing his name to stand for mayor has been a wonderful experience. His message is one we should all heed, if we have yet to cast a ballot.
“I urge everyone to rush the polls on Oct. 22,” said Powers.
