Doctor recruitment efforts in Chatham-Kent could be getting a boost.

A report to council recommends the creation of a Chatham-Kent Physician Recruitment and Retention Task Force, which would be an independent community committee.

$100,000 in one-time funding was approved in last year’s municipal budget – that money would be overseen by the Chatham-Kent Health Team for various recruitment efforts.

If approved, the task force would come back to council for bi-annual updates, with ongoing funding scheduled for the 2021 budget process.
