More cases of COVID-19 have surfaced in Chatham-Kent.
The latest report from Public Health includes 27 new infections, raising the seven-day average to 16 cases a day. Officials say the confirmed cases are an underestimate of the true number of active cases in the municipality due to testing limitations.
Four outbreaks remain active, including two retirement homes, a group home, and the medicine unit of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
There are 12 COVID patients at the Health Alliance, four of whom were admitted primarily because of the virus, and one in the hospital’s ICU.
Hospital officials say current patients with COVID-19 range in age from 31 to 91.
