A local family doctor is facing additional sexual assault charges following his initial arrest last month.

According to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), Dr. Robert Wismer was arrested on October 25 and now faces one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference to persons under 16 years old. The offences allegedly took place between September 28 and 29.

The physician was previously arrested on October 14 and was charged with another three counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference to persons under the age of 16 years old, and invitation to sexual touching to persons under 16 years old. Those charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred between August 29 and October 12.

Wismer remains under several release conditions including no forms of contact with the alleged victim, and not attending a public park or swimming area where anyone under the age of 16 is present or can reasonably be expected to be present. The conditions also include staying away from daycare centres, school grounds, playgrounds, or community centres except with another adult who is aware of the charges.

While Dr. Wismer’s primary business location is currently listed at the Chatham-Kent Heath Alliance, CKHA officials have previously stated that he is not currently providing services at the hospital.
