CK Playgrounds Being Closed

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the community, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby is ordering the closure of all municipally-owned playground equipment until further notice.

This move includes all publicly-owned basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas, and outdoor exercise equipment.

“It is very difficult to enforce physical distancing amongst youth, and it becomes increasingly difficult to do so at these locations” Dr. Colby says.

A safety warning sign will be posted at closed locations to further alert the public of the closures.

CK Public Health reminds people who choose to visit municipal trails or green spaces to keep at least 2 metres between themselves and others, to take necessary precautions such as washing their hands before and after visiting, and to cough/sneeze into a disposable tissue or their elbow. As always, people should not leave home if they are feeling ill.

Anyone with additional questions related to COVID-19 is asked to visit www.ckpublichealth.com/covid19, call the intake line at 519.355.1071 EXT 1900 or email covid19@chatham-kent.ca
