The annual Chatham-Kent Plowing Match returns this weekend for its 89th year.
The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the farm of Josh & Emma Butler at J&E Meats on Oakdale Road in Croton.
Organized by the Chatham-Kent Plowmen’s Association, the plowing match will feature prizes for various classes, including the Youngest and Eldest Plowman, Junior Special, and Plowing Special, among others. A farm recreation class will also be introduced this year.
Along with tractor and horse plowing, the event features a food booth, activities for kids, and the Queen and Princess of the Furrow competition.
