CK Police Find No Impaired Drivers During RIDE Checks

Some good news as Chatham-Kent Police continue to keep an eye on the roads over the holidays.

On Sunday, RIDE checkpoints were set up across the municipality, with 473 vehicles stopped and 4 roadside sobriety checks administered.

However, officials say they didn’t find one intoxicated driver in the bunch.

RIDE programs will continue into the new year.

Meantime, a traffic stop in Chatham has landed a 37-year-old man with charges.

Chatham-Kent Police say it turns out the man behind the wheel had a suspended license, and the plates on the car were actually registered to another vehicle.

The accused was arrested and released with a date in court, while the license plates were seized and the vehicle towed from the scene.
