CK Police Weigh In On Creepy Clowns

creepy-clownThe Chatham-Kent Police Service is weighing in on the ‘creepy clown’ social media phenomenon.

Chatham-Kent police say they are aware of the clown hoax. If you aren’t, social media is being used to perpetuate the idea that spooky looking clowns are being spotted in various sites locally.

The hoax has spread across North America and at this point there have been no official clown sightings in Chatham-Kent.

Police say it isn’t illegal to dress like a clown, but  uttering threats, being in possession of a weapon, mischief, cause disturbance, trespassing certainly are.

Authorities are also encouraging parents to ensure their child’s online behaviour is acceptable, respectful and legal.
