Under its newly revised weekly surveillance system, the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is reporting 224 new cases of COVID-19 in the community.
The new cases identified between April 24th and the 30th bring the seven-day average to 32 high risk cases a day, down from 38 on Friday.
Officials continue to stress the number of confirmed cases is an underestimate of the true number of COVID-19 infections in Chatham-Kent due to testing restrictions.
There are currently 24 COVID patients at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, nine of whom are being treated primarily for the virus, and one in critical care in the hospital’s progressive care unit.
Across Ontario, 1698 COVID patients are hospitalized with 199 in ICUs province-wide.
