CK Raises $71K on McHappy Day

Ronald McDonald House, London.

The numbers are in from this month’s McHappy Day fundraiser across Chatham-Kent.

In all, $71,000 was raised at the seven McDonalds locations in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Blenheim, and Tilbury.

A portion of the cost of all menu items sold at McDonalds on May 6 are being donated to support families with seriously ill children while they’re in hospital.

Proceeds support three core programs in the region – Ronald McDonald Houses in London and Windsor, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room in London.

“To every guest who purchased their favourites, and to our franchisees and their crews who made the day so special, thank you,” said Annemarie Swijtink, President and CEO of McDonald’s Canada in a news release. “You have shown the incredible positive impact we can create when we unite for families in our communities.”

Since McHappy Day was first celebrated in 1977, McDonald’s Canada, its franchisees, and donors have contributed over $122-million for Ronald McDonald Houses and local Canadian children’s charities.
