CK Reports 19 New COVID Cases

Another case of COVID-19 has cropped up in the school community of Wallaceburg District Secondary School.

There is now one staff and one student affected by the virus, however public health officials say there’s no impact to the school itself and no classes have been dismissed.

In Lambton County, a total of 15 public schools and four English Catholic schools have at least one student or staff affected by COVID-19. Brooke Central School in Alvinston has been closed with six positive cases, including two variants of concern.

Overall, Chatham-Kent now has 61 active cases of COVID-19. Public Health is reporting 19 new cases today and 4 recoveries.

An outbreak has been declared at Copper Terrace Nursing home with one confirmed case. No new cases have been reported in connection to the two outbreaks at the Health Alliance.

Elsewhere around southwestern Ontario, one more person has died from the virus in Windsor-Essex.  The county’s health unit has also added another 39 new cases.

Lambton County is reporting 23 new cases, bringing the total active caseload to 159.

Province-wide, there have been another 18 COVID-related deaths and 1371 new infections.
