Chatham-Kent is issuing a call for artists to design the community’s next piece of public art.
The municipality is currently accepting submissions from artists interested in designing a sculpture that would be placed in a yet-to-be-determined public location in Chatham-Kent.
The municipality said the goal of the art piece is to bring a fresh perspective to a public space and create a unique and inviting atmosphere that will attract residents and visitors alike.
“Our community thrives on creativity and innovation,” said CK Mayor Darrin Canniff in a news release. “This call for artists is an opportunity for local and global talents to leave their mark on our community, enriching our public spaces for generations to come.”
The art initiative will be funded through Together CK and a collaboration with the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation.
Interested artists will need to submit a detailed explanation of their sculpture’s concept, a budget proposal, as well as examples of previous work. The deadline to apply is June 24 at 11:59 p.m. and the project is expected to begin sometime this summer.
