Chatham-Kent has been announced as the host city for a gathering of elected leaders from across the province.

Chatham-Kent will welcome 29 mayors to the municipality for the Ontario Big City Mayors (OBCM) meeting in June to discuss critical matters affecting cities throughout the province.

CK announced on Friday that it would be hosting a meeting, however, an exact date in June and a location for the meeting have yet to be announced.

The meeting will serve as an opportunity to voice concerns about ongoing and emerging issues facing Ontario’s cities such as housing and infrastructure, provincial-municipal funding, and the homelessness crisis.

“As Chatham-Kent continues to grow, the topics being discussed around the OBCM table, things that big cities across Ontario experience, are more and more relevant to our community,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a news release. “Through OBCM, we’re at the table with distinguished mayors from large cities across the province participating in discussions about matters that are critical to the continued success of our community.”

OBCM collectively represents mayors from 70 per cent of Ontario’s population.
